All Glory Comes From Daring to Begin

I should have named this blog post - All Glory comes from daring to stop!!

All Glory comes from daring to beginPlease forgive me for going off piste but this time of year is like an onslaught to the senses for small shop owners, I know 'cos I'm one.

What with Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday, Cyber Monday and Christmas approaching like an express train, life is feeling full on.

We put ourselves under huge amounts of pressure to fulfil orders, get them quickly in the mail, make lists, buy gifts, order food for the big day, the to-do-list is endless. We don't want to let anyone down, that would be the end of the world.

But wait a cotton pickin' moment - where the heck are you in this equation?

I know, right down at the bottom of the heap.

I am not surprised that most of us get ill over the Christmas holidays. We have been running on empty, draining our batteries and using up all our resources...

And when we stop thinking at last a time to relax and enjoy ourselves, our bodies are completely overwhelmed and vulnerable to every tiny germ - and wham we are pole axed and spend the holidays feeling like crap with runny noses, hacking coughs, thick heads, aching limbs.

The remedy is a bit of tough love.

Know your limitations

Set a slightly slower pace

Get help (yes, ask for help)

Take time away from your computer

Get out of the house

Treat yourself

Stop trying to be superhuman

So in two words SLOW DOWN.

You're welcome
